Artist's Statement
"I have always felt the conflict between being a wife, a mother, a daughter, a teacher and myself. As I age, I truly believe that art is a part of me; it steers my days and distracts me from other things I should be doing. I am currently a secondary school art teacher and a practicing artist. My practice includes photography, painting, and ceramics; I often find myself swirling around the never-ending choices in front of me. Currently my work addresses the interplay of extractions from nature and the contrived perspectives that we form from them. In my attempt to create a happy place, a positive space or a dreamy place, I create images that reflect not only the natural world but also the effects of the man-made world.
I attended art school at a young age. Through the years I have taught the visual arts to adolescents, produced and curated exhibitions, and exhibited my own work. I strive for life balance and gratification in my crazy scope of art practices."
